Research and Publication Ethics
Research Ethics Regulations (Korean) Publication Ethics Regulations (Korean) Research Ethics Committee Regulations (Korean) Author Eligibility Regulations (Korean) Regulations on the Prevention of Research Misconduct by Related Parties as Co-authors (Korean) Submission Guidelines (Korean)JMST adheres to the principles of transparency and best practice in scholarly publishing as outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE, http://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ, https://doaj.org/apply/transparency/), and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE, https://www.icmje.org/recommendations/).
All research involving human participants must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and must receive approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or equivalent ethics committee. Authors must provide details of IRB approval and informed consent procedures within the manuscript.
Informed consent must be obtained from all participants or legally authorized representatives unless waived by the ethics committee.
Research involving animals must comply with institutional and national guidelines for animal care and use. Approval from an appropriate animal ethics committee must be documented.
JMST strictly prohibits all forms of research misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, and duplicate publication. All submitted manuscripts are screened using similarity detection software.
In cases of suspected misconduct, the journal follows COPE guidelines (http://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines)and may request explanations from authors, conduct investigations, and take appropriate actions including rejection, retraction, or notification of institutions.
Authorship must be based on substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. All authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission.
The journal promotes transparency in reporting and encourages adherence to recognized reporting guidelines such as CONSORT, PRISMA, STROBE, and CARE, depending on the study design.
As part of our commitment to strengthening research integrity, all authors are highly recommended to complete a research ethics training program recognized by their respective national or institutional guidelines.
For instance, researchers affiliated with Korean institutions may complete the online research ethics training program provided by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Human Resources Development (KIRD) (https://alpha-campus.kr).
To streamline the submission process, authors are not required to upload a formal certificate as a supplementary file. Instead, the corresponding author must verify that all contributing authors have completed the relevant ethics training by acknowledging an agreement checkbox within the e-submission system during the manuscript submission process.
